Visitors to the newly refurbished Rosebank Hotel will have to look no further than their own hotel for a sizzling, mouth-watering steak, one of the primary tourism pursuits for any visitor to Johannesburg.

The Butcher Block has opened a specially-designed branch of their steakhouse franchise in The Rosebank, offering the highest grade cuts of meat to tourists and locals alike. This “Executive Grill” has been created to tempt the palates of guests in a stylish space, with exceptional service that makes the whole experience eminently satisfying.

"We have adapted our look and feel of this restaurant so as to compliment the overall aesthetics of the hotel," says Manuel Savic, managing director of the Butcher Block Group. "We share the same philosophy on providing a superior product to our customers and an unwavering commitment to service excellence."

Every steak served at the Butcher Block undergoes a specialised ageing process to mature the tastiest and most tender cuts. The meat is supplied by Karan Beef, one of South Africa’s top meat suppliers, and only AAA Grade cuts are served.

The menu ensures that every taste is catered for, offering chicken, fish and vegetarian options alongside the star attraction – exceptional quality steaks.

"We have pulled out all the stops to attract the international tourist by providing game items on the menu and by building up an extensive wine cellar that caters to every palate," says Savic. "We have, however, taken great care to also cater for the local market, as it is our hope that the Butcher Block Executive Grill will become a destination store for locals, and not just hotel guests."

So what menu items should the visiting gastronome look out for? "We are first and foremost a steakhouse and would always recommend one of our choice cuts," says Savic. "Our chef would recommend a favourite among our regulars, the camembert and bacon rump, or the Entrecote maître d’. The homemade Amarula chocolate cheesecake is exceptional, and our coffee is the finest blend."
