The Rosebank uses innovative technology to create ambience

The Rosebank is re-opening with a new look and feel, and the hotel’s new ambience will be supported by innovative technology.

The grooving Circle Bar will be the hub of this innovation, where specially-selected music will be played and unique visual effects will be shown on giant Sony Bravia LCD screens.

The visualisations were animated exclusively for the Circle bar, and are themed to create an all-encompassing ambience for relaxation and recreation, in keeping with the music, which in turn is themed according to the time of day.

"We created a visualisation for the bar and as far as we know, we’re the first in this country to do this kind of digital animation running with music in a bar,” says Petro Magos, from audio and visual content management company, Magos Media.

"In the morning the music will be swingy, big band stuff to start you off,” he explains. "As you get into the late afternoon, there will be more ambient music, picking up the pace a little through to the evening when there will be harder lounge and acid jazz feel."

The playlists are completely random and the catalogue is broad enough to allow for no repetition in a 48-hour cycle. You won’t hear any endless replaying of a familiar CD during drinks at the Circle Bar.

The Rosebank’s approach to innovative ambience isn’t limited to the Circle Bar, and Magos Media have created musical themes for all the different reception areas in the hotel including the gym, and the hotel’s signature restaurant Fresh.

"In keeping with Fresh’s menu and décor of fresh and clean products, the music will feature new artists or lesser known songs from known artists," says Magos. "The music is sourced by a team of people at Magos Media, with the help of marketing executives from the different record companies."

In the gym, guests doing their workouts will be motivated by high-octane, energy-pumping beats.

"We are making a visit to The Rosebank an experience in itself; the hotel is more than just a place to stay," says Rick Berendsen, newly appointed General Manager at The Rosebank. "We are focusing on every aspect of the guest experience, so that relaxation, fun and excitement are all part of the package of visiting us – we’re not settling for the ordinary."

The Rosebank will be reopening in August.
